Main Sequence

By astronimate / last year

A “main sequence” star is essentially middle-aged. Main sequence stars are well and alive, successfully burning nuclear fuel by fusing hydrogen into helium. During this phase of life, the star’s nuclear fuel pushes outward against the its own powerful gravity. This delicate balance keeps a star healthy and stable.
